The concept for the retrofit project of Hotel Unique was inspired by Ruy Ohtake’s original architecture, aiming to modernize the suites while preserving their curved lines. The main changes include replacing orthogonal layouts with configurations that emphasize the building’s shape, such as combining two apartments with "porthole" windows for special views. The bathroom was reconfigured with an external sink and smart glass. The atmosphere of the suites offers a sensory journey, beginning in the lobby and continuing through winding corridors to the bright and welcoming refuge of the suites.
The color palette features dark tones in the corridors and warm tones in the suites, while the furniture includes icons of Brazilian modern design and indigenous handcrafted elements. Project highlights include collaboration with Ornare for the cabinetry and Roca for matte black fixtures and the Horizon sink, which complement the sophistication of the space. Every detail was meticulously designed to provide a unique experience, seamlessly integrated with the hotel's legacy.
